The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) has just spotted two black holes that could unlock one of cosmology’s biggest puzzles: how supermassive black holes formed so quickly in the early universe. This discovery challenges our understanding of black hole formation, and suggests primordial black holes could be more common than we thought, maybe even lurking all around us.
